Jane Finch COMMUNITY Hub & Centre For The Arts (JFCHCA)
Led by Community, made for Community.
What is the JANE FINCH CHCA?
The Jane Finch Community Hub and Centre for the Arts is a visionary, community-driven initiative dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration, and growth in the Jane-Finch neighbourhood and beyond. As a multipurpose facility, it will serve as a dynamic space for social, recreational, entrepreneurial, and artistic programs that celebrate the diversity of our community in culture, faith, and age.
Born from years of grassroots advocacy and collective efforts, the hub reflects the resilience and aspirations of the Jane-Finch community. It is built on values of inclusivity, accessibility, and resident-led decision-making, ensuring that it remains a space that belongs to and uplifts all who call this vibrant neighbourhood home.
Together, we create a place where ideas thrive, connections flourish, and community pride shines. The JFCHCA development is led by a collective known as the Hub Organizing Committee (HOC).
WHO WE ARE
The Hub Organizing Committee (HOC) is a coalition of residents, grassroots groups, community organizations, and networks from the Jane-Finch community, as well as external supporters and advisors.
The coalition was formed in summer 2020 to continue the work started by the Community Action Planning Group and many others.
OUR MANDATE
The HOC was not created to own or operate the Community Hub and Centre for the Arts (CHCA). The HOC is stewarding the project's pre-development to empower residents & ensure the JFCHCA reflects the concerns, aspirations and excellence of the Jane-Finch community.
Our sole focus is to steward a process which:
Secures the transfer and access to land for the Jane-Finch community
Establishes an equitable, transparent, and accountable community decision-making process that is resident-led
Delivers detailed collaborative plans for the design, construction, governance, operations, and sustainability of the hub.
